FarmVille Dogs – How Long Must I Feed These Dogs?

Share with your Friends
Check out our new feature to publish Farmville Latest news automatically to your wall.Click Here

Share Share Last week, with the release of the dogs’ final tricks, the ability to feed them was seemingly disabled. Since then, hundreds have users have cried out about their dogs begging for food, and not being able to feed them. We’ll dive into this subject head first and dispell some rumors for everyone out there.

When you first purchase a dog for your farm, you will have an adorable little puppy, which can grow into a full-grown dog. In order for your puppy to grow, it must be fed Puppy Kibble 14 times. You will have a period of 46 hours to feed your dog each time, although you must wait a full 23 hours between feedings. (The time this period begins is reliant upon the time you purchased your puppy and cannot be changed, so purchase your puppies at the time of day most convenient for you to feed them.) If you fail to feed your puppy within the 46 hour period, he or she will run away and will need to be rescued from the pound for 2 Farm Cash. Please note that only coin-bought dogs will run away.

Once your puppy has grown into a full-grown dog (this will take 23 hours after the 14th feeding), it will be ready to learn some tricks. Tricks are learned by feeding them Dog Treats within 46 hours, same as when they were a puppy, for a set period of time. Unlike with puppies, the time the feeding period begins is reliant upon when the first treat for a given trick was fed. Failing to feed a dog the needed number of treats to learn a trick will only result in the dogs progress on its current trick to be lost. Your dog will not run away or forget previously learned tricks. The numbers of treats required to learn each trick are 1 treat for Roll Over, 3 for Play Dead, 3 for Shake, and 7 treats for the final dog trick. (This comes to a total of 14 Dog Treats, for those keeping score.)

Finally, just to set the record straight, the ability to feed dogs was not removed; it was only disabled for users whose dogs have achieved their final trick. Once the dogs have learned all tricks, they do not need to be fed again. If the dog begs for food, you can safely ignore their requests, and they will neither run away or forget any tricks. Within 48 hours, the dog will no longer request food. If you still feel the need to feed your fully-educated dog, despite not needing to, you can do so by selecting a Dog Treat in your gift box and dragging it to your dog.

P.S. If your dog appears to be lost, don’t panic. They can be re-found by moving your farmer, which should make your dog come to you. This will only work if your dog is set to follow, however. If you have your dog set to stay, he or she will likely disappear behind an object while performing their final trick. Due to this, it is recommended to either a) set the dog to follow before having them perform their final trick, or, b) watch the dog as it performs its trick to find it when it finishes.

The Terrier is a pet on FarmVille.

It is available from the market for either 65 Farm Cash or 5,000 coins. The Farm Cash version nets 500 XP and resells for 15,000 coins. The Terrier paid for with coins requires 15 neighbor and level 8; it nets 50 XP and resells for significantly less at 250 coins.

Terriers bought for Farm Cash come with a full two weeks worth of Puppy Kibble to help them grow up properly, and will not run away if not fed every day. The coin-bought version comes with a one-day supply of kibble, and will run away if not tended to daily. If your puppy runs away, it will get locked in a pound and you must pay 2 Farm Cash to bail it out.
