When the Chicken Coop feature was initially released, it was not intended for users to be able to have more than one chicken coop per farm.
Due to various glitches and bugs in the past few weeks, certain users were able to place multiple chicken coops on their farms, which is a violation of FarmVille policy.
In order to rectify this situation, the FarmVille team has removed all excess Chicken Coops. This means that all users who are in possession of more than one Chicken Coop will be affected by this release.
To ensure our players are not overly inconvenienced by this change, all chickens that are in excess coops will be placed in your Gift Box. If you have more than 30 Chickens in multiple coops, your gift box will expand to accommodate all of them. This should ensure that you do not lose any chickens that are housed in excess coops.
In addition to this, we will leave the most valuable Chicken Coop on your farm. For example: if you are in possession of two chicken coops, one will be removed. If one Coop has 20 chickens and the other Coop has 3, we will leave the coop with 20 chickens on your farm.
This update will be completed in stages over the next few days, as it is a fairly complicated fix. This means that certain users will lose their additional coops before others.
We understand that many of our players enjoy having multiple Chicken Coops, however allowing this is something that threatens the stability of FarmVille. Having multiple coops increases the chances of producing Mystery Eggs. Having too many Mystery Eggs present in the FarmVille economy can unbalance the game. To ensure the health and longevity of FarmVille, we must limit the number of Chicken Coops to one per user.
After this release, being in possession of multiple Chicken Coops may result in consequences, as additional coops can only be obtained via cheating or hacking. If you would like to report a user for having multiple coops, please feel free to contact Zynga Customer Support.

Our first question comes to us from Gillmoor, and they're worried about a pair of puppies. They apparently have to take their real puppy to the vet and are worried they won't be able to make it back to their farm in time to feed their new FarmVille puppy. Since this has been a pretty heated topic, and Gillmoor's not the only person to ask about it, I thought it'd be a good idea to explain the timing for feeding your puppy. Once you buy and place your puppy, this starts a counter of 24 hours from the point they're on your farm. That means you have 24 hours from that point to feed him before he or she runs away. Once you feed your puppy, you have the rest of that 24 hours before they become hungry again. So let's say that your puppy gets hungry and you wait 8 hours to feed it? Once you feed it, you've got 16 hours before it gets hungry again. Once it gets hungry, you've got another 24 hours to feed it before it runs away. Hopefully, that clears things up.

But what do these new features actually mean for everyday people who use the Internet?
And when you see these Facebook-looking features popping up on other Web sites, how do you know what to do with them?
Here's a quick guide, based on a comments by Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's founder and CEO, and interviews with developers who create applications for the massively popular social-networking site:
"Like" buttons
Buttons with the word "like" and a thumbs-up icon on them are going to start popping up all over the Internet. By clicking one, you indicate that you find the content interesting, relevant or helpful. Basically, you would recommend it to a friend.
Before Wednesday, "like" buttons only were on Facebook. Now, they'll be all over the place, including on this site. When you click one, you post the item -- whether it's a blog post, photo or celebrity web page -- to your Facebook news feed.
The "liked" content may also become part of your Facebook profile, and visible to your friends or to everyone, depending on how your privacy settings are configured on Facebook.

A consequence of these "like" buttons will be that your friends' Facebook profile photos will start showing up all over the web.
If you see your friends' smiling faces online, it's an indication that they have clicked a "like" button on the Web site you're visiting. In a way, they're recommending it to you.

Facebook says these recommendations and social connections are the basis for the future of the Internet. Boring old hyperlinks are becoming something of the past, the company says.
No log-ins
These new Facebook features will show up regardless of whether or not you have entered a user name and password on a particular Web site.
So, say you go to Pandora to listen to music. If you have logged in to Facebook recently, you won't have to do anything on Pandora to see suggestions about music. Recommendations from your Facebook friends will automatically show up.

Although the number of people subscribed to games that charge monthly fees for access continues to grow, we've all heard protests from those that refuse to pay any kind of regular fees to play a video game. Many are accustomed to the traditional retail offerings: buy the box, take it home, and play it forever, or until you get bored of it. By comparison, the $10-$15 per month a lot of MMOGs charge may look rather steep, but are they really a rip-off, or are they good value for your entertainment dollars? 
Versus Other Video Games
My experience has been that video games, in general, are among the cheapest forms of entertainment to be found, particularly if you don't take the cost of the hardware into account. On the PC, gamers have quite a few free games to choose from, assuming they have an Internet connection. Free is a good price, but free games don't always live up to the growing expectations of gamers.
At retail a single-player game can cost anywhere from $20 to $80, and usually provides dozens of hours of entertainment, potentially more if the game can replayed using a different class, faction, or gameplay mode. Even if you play through it only once and it takes 30-40 hours, odds are good that it's costing less than $2 an hour, which is pretty reasonable as far as entertainment goes. Another nice thing about single-player games is that you can revisit them years later without having to worry about whether game servers are still available, or whether anyone is still playing. Of course, if it's a console game, renting is another option that will save a few bucks.
Plenty of online multiplayer games have no access fees, and can provide months or even years of entertainment just for the price of the game itself. Online shooters like Counter-Strike, Battlefield, and Call of Duty are good examples of this, as are online RPGs such as Guild Wars. I know people that have played the same FPS for 4 or 5 years before deciding to move on to something else. They've relatively rare, but their video game hobby is costing them mere pennies, if that, on an hourly basis. Of course, they need an Internet connection, which is an expense that isn't required for single-player gaming.
Subscription-based MMOGs typically sell for between $40 and $60, provide one month of access with the game, and charge $10-$15 per month after that. You won't find many people who play for less than 10 hours a week, so the first month may cost upwards of 1 dollar an hour, but after that they're paying under 50 cents an hour, or a fraction of that if they play more regularly. It's also common for MMOG players to stay with one game for months or even years, rather than buying a new game every month or two, which makes a monthly subscription a bargain in some cases.
Versus Movies
Going out to watch a film on the big screen is hard to compare to gaming, but the finances of it are pretty straightfoward. 2 hours of entertainment for a minimum of about $10 plus popcorn. Live performances such as plays and concerts tend to be considerably more expensive. If you rent a movie and watch it at home the cost drops to as little as a couple dollars an hour, bringing it within range of certain types of gaming.
Versus Television
With a good antenna most people can enjoy television for free. If the crystal clear reception and selection that comes with cable is desired, the going rate is somewhere near $50 per month. Given the tremendous amounts of time people spend in front of the TV, this is another very affordable kind of entertainment costing well under 50 cents an hour for most of us.
Versus Going to the Bar
Anyone familiar with bars knows that you often walk out of them with a big whole in your pocket, and only a vague recollection of how it happened. Even if you're a slow drinker and the bar has no cover charge, your tab is sure come in at more than $10 an hour. Of course, there are other benefits to being in the bar that can't be quantified, such as the nutritional value of those drinks, or the possibility that you'll meet your soulmate on the dance floor and still be sober enough to impress them.
There are countless other forms of entertainment we could consider, such as reading a book or going for a walk, which are very affordable, to golfing or alpine skiing, which are relatively expensive. Although it's not too hard to come up a number of ways to amuse yourself that are cheaper than MMOGs, they're probably not much cheaper.
It's interesting to note that in the early days of online gaming fees were sometimes as high as $20 or $25 an hour. Unlimited access for $15 a month was something people could only dream of. Sure, it adds up over the course of a year, but so do the hours of time you've spent playing. And the amount you play is the key to whole equation, because if you only have a few hours to spare each month, a game subscription doesn't make much sense. Overall, I think it's one of the better values you can get for your entertainment dollars, but the lamenting over monthly fees isn't likely to end anytime soon. Microsoft signs off on MekTek Studios' distribution of FASA Studios' 2000 PC mech sim, launch expected soon.
Last July, Smith & Tinker--an off-shoot company born from the demise of FASA Studios--announced that it had given MekTek Studios permission to release MechWarrior 4 online for free, in honor of the BattleTech series' 25th anniversary. However, the plan hit a snag when the pair realized Microsoft would also have to sign off on the move.
It looks like the complimentary launch of MechWarrior 4 will instead mark BattleTech's 26th anniversary. MekTek today announced that it had received clearance from Microsoft's legal department to distribute the game for free.
Developed by FASA, MechWarrior 4 received strong reviews upon its launch in the 2000 holiday season, and was lauded as an accessible point of entry for the sim-heavy series. The game received a handful of expansions that were also planned for free release, as well as a stand-alone sequel titled MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries.

In February 2009, an Activision Blizzard earnings report revealed that the next James Bond game from the Quantum of Solace publisher wouldn't be released until 2010. According to leaks from a closed-door event in 2008, it will be an original, vehicle-focused game from Bizarre Creations, the studio behind next month's combat racer Blur.
Now, it appears that British megastore HMV has unmasked the title of Bizarre Creations' 007 outing. Its online store is listing product pages for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii versions of "James Bond: Bloodstone." Each is tagged with the words "driving racing games coming soon" and listed in the "driving racing" category. The lists also display the James Bond films' distinctive "007" logo, with the "7" being a gun.
Though Activision declined to comment on the product listing, James Bond: Bloodstone is as good a title as any, since there is no official 007 film this year. That frees up Bizarre Creations to give it an original moniker much like one of the best-reviewed James Bond games, Everything or Nothing. The 2004 PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and Game Boy Advance title was published and developed by Electronic Arts and also featured heavy driving and vehicle combat elements.
The apparent outing of James Bond: Bloodstone comes just days after James Bond fans were hit by discouraging news. Following the inability of the 007 films' financially plagued distributor MGM to find a buyer, the production company behind the movies, EON Productions, announced Monday that the next James Bond film had been put on indefinite hold. It had been slated to start shooting later this year with Daniel Craig reprising his role as the dapper secret agent hero and Oscar-winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Revolutionary Road) in the director's chair.
Gamers who pony up for Blizzard's real-time strategy sequel at GameStop can now get guaranteed entrance to testing period.
While Starcraft II still doesn't have a hard release date, gamers who simply can't wait to play the real-time strategy game sequel no longer need to. Customers who preorder Starcraft II from specialty retailer GameStop can now get access to the game's closed beta.
For instant access, gamers can place their preorders in one of the retailer's brick-and-mortar locations. Those with slightly more patience can order through the GameStop Web site, which promises to e-mail the beta code and instructions on joining to customers within 24 hours of a preorder being placed. (Orders cannot be canceled once the code has been sent out.)
The Starcraft II beta program has been running since February and allows players to play a variety of multiplayer match types. While it doesn't include any of the single-player campaign mode, the beta does allow users to take on computer-controlled opponents in the standard multiplayer modes.
The first installment in the trifurcated Starcraft II series, Wings of Liberty, will focus on the human Terran campaign in single-player mode. However, the multiplayer component will also let gamers wage interstellar real-time strategy warfare as the hivelike Zerg and technologically advanced Protoss factions.

Scientists track more than 11,000 people over six weeks, find regular training produces no improvement on benchmark intelligence tests.
Contrary to what marketing campaigns would have people believe, a new scientific study suggests that brain training games only train the brain to get better at brain training games. The study, led by Adrian M. Owen and Adam Hampshire of the UK Medical Research Council's Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit and published yesterday by the journal Nature, found no appreciable cognitive benefits from a six-week stint of brain training programs.
"Although improvements were observed in every one of the cognitive tasks that were trained, no evidence was found for transfer effects to untrained tasks, even when those tasks were cognitively closely related," the researchers concluded.
The study was conducted online with 11,430 participants divided into three groups. One group was given brain training tests that focused on problem-solving and reasoning, while another was trained on a wider spectrum of tests focusing on short-term memory, visuospatial processing, and math. A separate control group was asked to comb the Internet in search of answers to general knowledge questions.
All three groups were given the same set of four benchmark tests at the beginning and end of the six-week program. As evidence of the inefficacy of the brain training, the scientists called out results from one benchmark test in particular.
Participants were tested as to how many digits they could remember in sequence before and after the program. The average number of digits recalled by those who had been taking tests purported to improve memory increased by three-hundredths of a digit. Assuming linear returns and a steady rate of training, it would take four years for the average person to remember a single extra digit. By comparison, the group of people who had forgone training in favor of Internet surfing saw their average improve by two-tenths of a digit.
